Carpet Re-Stretching After Water Damage in Gamaliel, KY

Carpet re-stretching after water damage fixes the ripples and waves that show up once wet carpet dries. When carpet gets soaked, the backing relaxes. If it dries without tension, it comes back looser than it was installed, and you get humps across the room that people trip on.

In Gamaliel, KY, Gamaliel, KY Wet Carpet Drying re-stretches carpet as part of most wet carpet drying jobs. After the pad is replaced and the subfloor reads dry, we use a power stretcher, not just a knee kicker. The power stretcher braces against the far wall and pulls the carpet tight across the whole room. Then we hook it back onto the tack strip, trim the excess and tuck the edge.

We also check the tack strip. Strip that sat in water can rust at the pins or rot at the wood, and then it will not hold the carpet. We replace any bad sections before we stretch.

There is one case where re-stretching will not help: delamination. If the primary backing has separated from the secondary backing, the carpet will bubble no matter how tight it is. We check for that first and tell you if the carpet is not worth saving.
